Sometimes the AI will get the perfect hand and wipe you out within only a matter of turns and you had no chance. The AI is still too unpredictable – sometimes you will have to restart a duel multiple times purely because you are not drawing any useful cards at all. Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution rises from the sea of mediocrity to become the definitive Yu-Gi-Oh experience. Finally we have Multiplayer in the form of Ranked Matches, Player Matches and Local Matches. You then have the Battle Pack mode Play using a temporary deck using cards gotten from a number of battle packs. You have Duelist Challenges which are pretty self-explanatory, as you progress through the campaign you will encounter various characters, thus unlocking their Duelist Challenge. On top of that heavy campaign, there is a whole host of other game modes to explore and enjoy. Although, it could get pretty annoying as some decks you use are basically trash. I always opted to use the story deck, I think it added something extra to the campaign. Whilst playing through the battles in the campaign you will be given the option of playing with your very own deck or using the story deck – the same combination of cards that were originally used in the show. Not only that but after each story battle you will unlock the reverse battle of each – if you were curious of that other person’s deck… As you progress through these battles you will unlock various deck recipes for specific characters that allow you to recreate their decks – or mix it up.

As you can probably imagine, that’s a lot of battles. It’s spread across 6 different chapters – one for each generation – and follows the show, featuring the most memorable characters and battles. Link Evolution has a pretty extensive campaign that will undoubtedly keep you busy for quite some time.
